    it is a myth that a false grip saves your wrists from injury. in order to properly execute a false grip bench press, you have to bend your wrists back to balance the bar on your palms, which can lead to hyperextension injuries. The reason for doing this exercise is it forces your elbows inward and stresses your triceps more, this allows you to be able to make quicker gains on competition bench press (closed thumb), as proper form is forced in a false grip bench press.

    but if you start by using the regular grip, then switch to the thumbless, it make sthe weight feel a shitload heavier. lol I found that out the hard way.

    The thumbless grip is also used by a lot of powerlifters because it puts the weight more over the forearms instead of the middle of the hand. There were incidents were people were breaking their wrist/arm because the weight was too much to hold in a standard grip.

    Yeah, don’t false grip w/o a spotter.

    The first guy is using a technique called false grip. Many experienced weightlifters use it to gain more power on their bench press, but it can be very dangerous.
