Posted by admin on July 12th, 2010 and filed under ab workouts | No Comments »

Here are the best ab workouts that you can do at home to slat stomach with six pack abs.
Hip Hop Abs
At home workouts can become tired and repetitious, with some over-muscled fitness guru yelling impersonally at you to move faster, or harder. The Hip Hop Abs program hosted by Shaun T is perfect for those who don’t want to go to an aerobics class at a gym, but who are bored with the same old routines from other television and DVD personalities.

This is a four week program which comes complete with four different workouts including:
Secrets to Flat Abs – This workout targets the abs and obliques in an intensive 13 minute workout to some really great music.

Fat Burning Cardio – This is a 30 minute workout that promises to make you sweat as you dance your way to flatter abs while focusing on burning fat at the same time.

Ab Sculpt – A workout that boasts better abs without doing sit-ups or crunches is rare indeed. This workout promises more hip hop action while working on those abs in a fast paced 25 minute workout.
Total Body Burn – The longest of all the workouts, this cardio and body sculpting routine is a 45 minute workout blitz that will have your abs burning in no time.

In addition to the DVD’s, this program comes with additional tools to help you succeed. A nutrition guide, online support and a 30 day workout calendar are all designed with the Hip Hop Abs program in mind.

Shaun T recognizes that the home workout needs to be both fun and energized, and he delivers with a great ab workout that delivers what it promises.
P90X Ab Workouts

Great Examples Of Ab Workouts At Home

Posted by admin on June 6th, 2010 and filed under ab workouts | No Comments »

Perhaps you are one of the many people who are searching for great ab workouts at home because going to the gym is a tremendous effort to make on your part. Your mind might be willing to go, but your body is not. Good news is, the ab exercises done at a gym can be performed in your own home as well, because they do not need costly gym equipment. Try some of them and you will not believe how fast you could reap the benefits.

Prior to beginning an exercise routine at home, ensure that it is appropriate for your fitness level. It would be a fine idea if you follow a program created by a professional based on your needs and your physical condition.

All workouts must begin with warm up exercises, like a few minutes of cardiovascular exercises. Since you are not under professional supervision, be sure not to overdo it, especially when you are just starting out. Begin with just several counts then increase as you become stronger. You should be sensitive as to how your body reacts. There must be no pain, just muscles getting stretched.

Instead of expensive equipment for your ab workout, what you need are appropriate clothing, enough space, and maybe, an exercise mat. Begin with only a few crunches. A very useful kind is the vertical crunch. Lying on your back, place your hands behind your head. Slowly, while lifting your legs up, begin bending your knees. Maintaining such position, raise your body in the direction of your knees and then lower it again slowly. You can begin with ten repetitions, increasing the count as you go along.

Bicycle exercises are also a good means of achieving perfectly fit abs. Again, lie down with your hands at the back of your head. Bend your right knee in your chest’s direction. Touch your right knee with your left elbow by lifting your torso. Begin a pedaling motion with alternate knee and elbow movements. While exercising, do not forget to breathe.

A regular ab workout in your home makes your back muscles stronger. It improves posture and gives you a greater sense of being in control of yourself.

To make the workout exciting, consider variety. There are numerous ab exercises to choose from. You can add or incorporate a new one in your routine on a regular basis to avoid monotony. Make sure to exercise regularly. It will feel good, and in time, you will be surprised how far you have improved.

A healthy diet should accompany your workout. Success will be easier to achieve when it is coupled with a healthy diet and adequate water intake.

Reap the rewards of ab workouts at home without the costs of unnecessary equipment and membership fees at the gym.

Great Cardio Workouts You Can Do At Home

Posted by admin on June 4th, 2010 and filed under cardio workouts | No Comments »

You know how important cardio workouts are for your health and wellbeing, but it’s hard to get a good cardio workout in when you can’t leave to house to go to the gym or for a run. Here are some great cardio workouts you can do right at home.

Workout DVDs

One of the easiest ways to get your heart pumping with a workout at home is to purchase one (or a few) of the workout DVDs available today. You can find cardio workouts on just about anything from kickboxing to dance. Pick one that looks like fun and start working out. If you just add a new DVD every 3 months, you’ll have a great little library of cardio workout DVDs in no time. Rotate through the different workouts and you’ll never get bored of working out at home again.

Treadmill

A treadmill is a great way to get a good cardio workout at home. You can walk on it briskly or go for a jog or run. Some models will even let you adjust the angle of the walking surface, to simulate going uphill. Keep your workout from getting boring by listening to some music or audio books while you walk.

Stationary Bike

A stationary bike is another great piece of equipment that allows you to get in a great cardio workout just about anywhere in your house. All you have to do is jump on the bike and peddle away. Keep some water close by to stay hydrated. I like to watch TV or a movie while I’m riding my bike. You can also read books or magazines if you are just peddling at a slower yet persistent pace.

Jump Rope

A jump rope is one of the least expensive pieces of workout equipment you’ll ever buy. You can pick one up for a few bucks, or borrow one from your kids. To get a great workout, simply jump rope for 20 to 30 minutes. For a great interval training, jump 100 jumps as fast as you can, then slow down to a more comfortable jump, barely lifting your feet enough to let the rope go through.

Step Workout

You’ve probably seen those fancy step workouts at the gym, or the TV infomercial. Guess what? You can get a great step workout at home without any specialized equipment. Utilize the bottom step of your stairs, or any large, sturdy box you can step on and off. I use an old milk crate at my house. Step up using your right leg first 12 times, then switch to leading with your left leg. Repeat. For some variety try stepping side to side.

Killer Ab Workouts You Can Do at Home

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under ab workouts | No Comments »

Most ab workouts designed for home use usually involve nothing except a variety of boring and oftentimes useless floor crunches.  I can assure you that these very typical workouts never deliver the results that we are looking for.

For starters, the floor crunch only provides enough resistance to cause a training effect in beginners.  Once you develop a base of strength, the crunch will only serve as an exercise capable of maintaining your current strength level.

Secondly, the crunch only trains the abs in one range of motion: flexion of the trunk.  Flexing the trunk is only one of the many ranges of motion that your abdominal muscles are capable of.  Any well designed ab workout will include exercises that target all major ranges of motion.  The bottom line is, the crunch alone can never provide a complete ab workout.

Instead, you need to perform several different ab exercises, each targeting a different abdominal function and/or region.  This may sound confusing, but once you understand the anatomy and function of your abdominals, designing an effective ab workout is quite simple.

Don’t worry, I promise I’m not to give you a boring anatomy lesson.  Instead, I’m going to take all of the guesswork out and provide you with a ready to use workout.  Additionally, this workout will require no equipment at all, making it “just what the doctor ordered” for those of you who train at home.

1a) Reverse Crunch On Floor 3×20-25 30 sec rest  1b) Straight Body Side Crunch On Floor 3×12 (5sec hold) 30 sec rest  2a) Plank 3×60 sec 30 sec rest  2b) Seated Russian Twists With Leg Cycle 3×20-25 30 sec rest

Now I will give you a detailed description on how to properly execute each exercise:

Reverse Crunch On Floor- Lie on your back on the floor.  Bend both your knees and your hips until they make 90 degree angles.  Bring knees toward chest by contracting your abdominal muscles.  You butt will rise off the floor. Be sure to maintain a constant knee angle throughout the range of motion. Return until hips are again at a 90 degree angle.  Repeat for the prescribed number of reps.

Straight Body Side Crunch On Floor- Lie on your side on the floor.  Keep your hands straight out above your head, in line with your body.  Keep legs straight.  Lock your hands together.  Simultaneously raise your arms and legs up so that neither are in contact with the floor.  Hold this position for the prescribed number of seconds.

Plank- Get on the floor in a push up position.  Support your body on just your forearms and your toes.  Be sure to keep the abs flexed and hold your body in a perfectly straight horizontal line.  Do not let hips drop or raise them up at all.  Hold this position for the prescribed number of seconds.

Seated Russian Twists With Leg Cycle- Sit on floor and cross your arms across your chest, grabbing the opposite shoulders.  Lean back until your upper body makes a 45 degree angle to the floor.  Rotate trunk to the right while simultaneously bringing your right knee towards your chest.  At this point your left elbow will be touching your right knee.  In a smooth motion rotate to the left and repeat this on the other side.  Continue to alternate until you finish the prescribed number of reps.  One full rotation equals one rep.

Now you have a result producing ab workout you can perform with no equipment whatsoever.  Do this workout two or three times per week for the next month.  After this month is over, it will be time to progress to a more advanced ab workout.

A great six pack is only a few weeks away!  Start today and sculpt your stomach faster than you thought possible!
